About Me
My parents moved to Prince Edward County in the late 80s to open a small family bakery in Bloomfield (now home to Flame and Smith!) You might know my mom as Ms Henderson aka probably your favourite art teacher š
I grew up in the village, where I went to Pinecrest elementary and spent my teens and early twenties working along Main Street. I spent five years managing the Bloomfield Bicycle Company renting bikes, building trails, planning tours and helping behind the scenes at a variety of local community cycling events in the early 2000s. These events, fundraisers for groups like the Kiwanis and Canadian Mental Health Association as well as the early years of the Kids of Steel, was the the beginning of spark and drive to contribute to my community at the local level that has carried on through the last two decades.
After living out east until 2021, I returned to Bloomfield and jumped right back into working in the tourism industry at a few places before landing my job at Rosehaven Yarns where I have been the manager for the last 4 and half years.
Community Building
In addition to working behind the counter at Rosehaven, I also began looking for ways to give back and improve the community I grew up in and am now raising my kids in. Community building and grassroots organizing have been a long standing passion of mine no matter where I’ve called home.
In 2022, I joined the Bloomfield/Hallowell Recreation Committee for a year before moving to the Picton BIA Marketing committee. In late 2023 I co-founded The Radiator Collective, an art and music organization that promotes emerging musicans and artists through various partnerships with local businesses and organization with a side of community advocacy. I was awarded the Community Arts Builder award from County Arts in 2025 alongside my partner for our work in the arts sector, as well as a campaign we ran to raise awareness and support for a new affordable housing initiative which is one of the pieces of community work I am most proud of to date.
This December will mark Radiator Collectives third annual VOIDfest - a collaborative two day music festival that takes place in the void between Christmas and New Years. Our primary goal with VOIDfest was to create a mid-winter festival that brings together established and emerging musicians to present a mostly free, much needed end of season event for locals as well as those visiting over the winter break while providing a post-holiday boost for local businesses as they head into the quieter months. This event is run in partnership with more than a dozen local businesses and volunteers, and featuring 20+ musicians. It is truly a joy to organize and run each year.
Why I'm Running for Council
During a recent campaign meeting the bell hooks quote “The word ‘love’ is most often defined as a noun, yet we would all love better if we used it as a verb.” came up. The idea that loving a place, person or community should not be a passive act, but an engaged and ongoing process that helps create the best version of this thing. This idea feels so applicable to why I am running for council.
I love Prince Edward County; the landscape around us, our amazing trail systems and beaches, a thriving creative community full of endless events to fill your evenings and weekends, tight knit communities and volunteers who actively help their neighbours and work every day to make our island a better place to live. These are the best parts of living here.
But, I am also a single working parent who has spent much of the last twenty years working for small businesses in the tourism and arts industries of Prince Edward County. Working in one of our largest employment industries often comes with challenges - low vacancy rates, high rents and limited affordable family homes, food insecurity and an unbalanced age demographic trying to cover the bills as younger generations are priced out of The County. These are all too often the hidden parts of living.
Because of this, an important part of living here for me has been putting my time and energy back into my community to help create the kind of place people can not only live, but also thrive. Running for council is the next step in using my endless energy, passion and dedication to community building to help create a vibrant, sustainable PEC for now and the next generation.

I have my own hopes, dreams and ideas for what the future of PEC could bring us; I look forward to sharing with you over the next two months. However the most important thing for me during this campaign period is to hear from you, the people who live in my community, and what your concerns and hopes and dreams are.
Over the next few weeks I will be hosting small Meet & Greets throughout Bloomfield and Hallowell, attending all candidates meetings and going door to door to speak to the folks who live in Ward 2. I hope to connect with each and every one of you if possible.

How To Vote
This fall's election brings an opportunity for real changes within the PEC landscape!
We have a more diverse field running in 2026 than ever before, with 14 women on the ballot across all wards, a range of socio-econimcal backgrounds and positions and more folks under 45 than we have seen on the ballot in some time. We also have a special referendum question about the size of council which must meet a 50% voter turn out threshold in order to be automatically accepted. Municipal voting is often overlooked despite it being the governing body that makes decisions around the day to day services we use. Municipal government is also the group of people who advocate for our needs at the provincial and federal government levels making it, to me, the most important ballot you cast.
Municipal voting has also never been easier with advanced polls and online voting options! The first step in voting is to make sure you are on the voting list! You can check to see if you are registered here.

If you are not registered, you can contact the county clerks office for information on registering ahead of election day. Even if you are not registered to vote before the election you can still vote in person on election day - October 26th!
To vote on election day, you must go to the voting location - Ward 2 is voting at the Bloomfield Town Hall this year - with a piece of identification and your address from the list linked here.
Advance voting is on October 17th with online voting opening at 10am that day and running until election day at 8pm.
