Community Endorsements

While I've spent a lot of time this election campaign talking about why I'd be a good councillor, today I wanted to share with you what other folks have said about why they want to see me in council. The following endorsements are from members of the community with whom I have collaborated with at some point in the last few years on various art and advocacy projects.

Thank you to all who wrote something for their trust and vote of confidence.

"Erynn is a vital community member focused on connecting people through arts and advocacy. Erynn addresses issues important to the long term sustainability of our communities and is comfortable having difficult conversations finding common grounds.

Prince Edward County will be better served having her on council."

Jordan Malka, Beacon Bike and Brew owner

"Erynn is a thoughtful person who considers more than one side of any issue. She is such a natural community organizer and collaborator. I believe she is very well positioned to provide a fresh and unique prospective to council. We’d be lucky to have her."

Ashely Brewsmith, Proudest Pony Salon and Gallery owner

"I’m choosing Erynn because she sees ward 2 as a whole.  It is a diverse area and I believe she can represent all of us fairly."

Kelly Roblin, Ward 2 Resident and owners of Kelly's Shop

"I've known Erynn since she was seven. Born, raised, and educated right here, she works a Main Street job and raises two teenage boys as a single mom — she knows what it's like to stretch a paycheque while council seems to listen only to developers and wealthy retirees. Too often, the folks working minimum wage and just scraping by are forgotten. Erynn wouldn't forget them; she's one of them.Through the Radiator Collective she's brought art shows, live music, and young energy to a community that badly needs it. And her mom, a beloved art teacher at the high school, raised her to give back. I can't think of anyone better suited to speak for the working families of this community."

"I’m endorsing Erynn Ahern for Ward 2 — why? She gets it.

She gets what having a home means. She gets what having opportunities means to people. She gets what it means to raise a family here. And she gets that we are falling short in Prince Edward County when it comes to ensuring everyone has access to adequate housing and meaningful opportunities.

Erynn understands the role artists play in our community, but also the role of workers, small businesses, servers and so many others who make this a place people want to visit and a place people can actually afford to live. She advocated for affordable housing at Queen Elizabeth at a crucial point, and she is willing to stand up, ask hard questions and call things out when something isn’t right.

I’ve also come to appreciate Erynn as a creative placemaker — someone who creates opportunities for artists who are struggling to have a platform, find each other and build community. And I value her support for the Macaulay Village Neighbourhood Plan and her understanding that residents have to be part of advocating for the supports, services and infrastructure our neighbourhoods need — particularly communities that have too often felt forgotten and, in some cases, neglected.

Because ultimately, we make this place together. We work together. We listen to each other. We make decisions about what matters. And we have an opportunity to grow toward something we actually want to be.

Erynn is about community — supporting community and creating community.

She has my vote."

Christine Durant, Ward 2 Resident

"I’m proud to endorse Erynn Ahern for Ward 2 Hallowell Councillor. Having worked with Erynn for four years, I’ve seen firsthand that she is intelligent, determined, and unafraid to stand up for what matters, even when it means challenging the status quo or taking on opposition.

Erynn doesn’t shy away from the difficult issues that others would rather avoid. She does her homework, researches the facts, understands the numbers, and comes prepared to back up her ideas with thoughtful, informed solutions.

During my eight months of cancer treatment and surgery, she stepped up and took care of my entire business, demonstrating the strength, leadership, and commitment she brings to everything she does.

Erynn is already a strong advocate for affordable housing, the arts, food security, young families, and a more inclusive future for Prince Edward County. She has been actively fighting for these priorities for years and is committed to continuing that work as councillor.

We need councillors who are willing to ask the hard questions, challenge the way things have always been done, and fight for meaningful change. Erynn has the intelligence, courage, and conviction to do exactly that."

Lesley Snyder, Owner of Rosehaven Yarn Shop

"Honestly, I can’t endorse Erynn Ahern strongly enough for Ward 2 in Prince Edward County. Since meeting her, I’ve seen firsthand the time, energy and care she continually puts into our community. Her commitment is evident in the work she takes on and the effort she puts into seeing it through.

One of the qualities I admire most is her initiative. Erynn recognizes problems as they arise, asks what can be done and gets to work. She also looks ahead, identifying needs and gaps before they become bigger problems. Her ability to cut through red tape, safe + easy buzzwords and empty gestures to move things forward is something I believe would be invaluable on council.

I’ve also seen how much she cares about building a community that works for everyone. She understands that people have different needs, circumstances and perspectives, and that everyone deserves to be heard and considered in decisions that affect their lives. That care extends beyond her own circle to the wider community.

Her dedication to arts, music and culture is part of a broader commitment to making the County a place where people can participate, feel connected and enjoy a better quality of life. She brings motivation, practical thinking and the persistence to turn ideas into action. I’d be proud to see her bring that same care and determination to the council table."

Alex Currie, Community Organizer/Radiator Collective co-founder and artist about town.
